Being a Costal Country, It is least to say that Sri Lanka is an year around destination with average temperature being a constant between 26 to 30 degree Celsius, occasionally climbing above 30 degree during hottest time of the day and decrease with altitude falling around 18 to 20 degree Celsius. Sri Lanka faces two types of monsoons, First, The southwest (“Yala”) monsoon brings rain to the west and southwest coasts and the hill country from April or May to September and is wettest from April to June. Second, less severe northeast (“Maha”) monsoon hits the east coast from November to March and is wettest from November to december. Ideal is to travel a costal country during less wet times, when the travel costs will be higher because those are the peak travel times.
Traveling during or just before or after the non peak times of wet season can give you cheap fares for your Sri Lanka Travel.
For the West Coast and Hill Country the best time to travel is between December and March.
For East Coast, Best Time to travel is May to September.
Winter (December to Feburary)
